Rome is a marvelous city everyone should see once in their lifetime. In general accommodation is expensive and usually full, try booking early .Rome is always crowded due to Tourist attention.Otherwise walking tour in Rome is like walking in the dream. One side you will see Fontana De Trevi other side you will see Pantheon, then Coliseum of course, Vatican city is another must but go early  and do not give any money to tourist guides who try to sneak you in or sell you stuff because those are not really effective. Spanish steps a bit far you can use subway as it is cheap and effective . Architecture art and history will take you to medieval times and absolutely marvelous experience. Otherwise you must eat Gelato, you must east pizza in Rome however not necessarily pasta or other traditional food types as they are a bit overrated and expensive if you are on budget.
