Greece in general beautiful but without Santorini it wouldn't be that great for sure. Best ways to travel in between islands on a budget or even luxury is cruises. Definitely worth it , you will be mesmerized by blue white combination and won't understand how time passes. Cruises from Turkey especially Izmir are cheap reliable, comfortable. Athens a bit over rated if possible skip (so crowded, traffic is too much a lot of waiting in lines honestly focus on islands). Sea food is really goo d and cheap , if you stop at Chios definitely get something with mastic(mastic liquor , jam etc) . Rhodes is beautiful
